The Hyderabad metro is providing a clean alternative transportation facility, however, travelling to the metro station through auto rickshaws, buses, taxi's and bikes all increasing the carbon emission. The Telangana state government must build clean transportation to the metro station from all parts of Hyderabad at a local level!

The initial goal of the Hyderabad metro was to lower pollution levels across Hyderabad. The current metro which uses a clean energy source has only partially achieved its goal. Currently with the Hyderabad metro covering 67 km and 60 stations across Hyderabad, approximately 4,90,000 passengers ride the metro. Majority of them use bounce bikes, taxi's and auto rickshaws to and from the station. In turn increasing the total carbon emissions caused by the metro.

To solve this problem the government must introduce safe and secure anti-automobile travel routes that lead to nearby metro stations. Specifically, safe footpaths and cycle paths, green public vehicles like electric bounce bikes and electric RTC busses, and on the longer run implement underground subways optimised for speed transportation to metro stations. Such initiatives will provide a complete green transportation option for the citizens further reducing carbon emissions in Hyderabad.

Taking action for the problem is very important for the future well-being of Hyderabad. Therefore, all the stakeholders – Telangana state government and the citizens of Hyderabad – should do their part in supporting the action. You can sign this petition to further circulate the news. You can spread awareness about the problem and it's suitable solutions through social media. You can raise this issue to GHMC and the state government. This action must be taken for the environment of Hyderabad.
