Hyderabad Auto drivers, charge fare as per the meter!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
Travelling in autos becomes an issue when it comes to Hyderabad. The drivers are not only rude but also expect people to give unreasonable fares. These drivers can ask you to pay an amount of Rs. 70-80 for a distance of about 2 Kms. Once they figure out that you are not originally from the city, they can ask you to pay upto Rs. 90-150 for a distance of 3-4 Kms. The minimum fare is Rs.20 and you will hardly come across auto drivers who would ask for it or agree to drop you.
Majority of these autos have installed meters but none are functional. If you force them to use the meter, you'll realise that these meters are tampered and you will end up paying way more than you should be.
In others cities like Mumbai and Delhi, the meters are not only checked but the drivers are also forced to follow and comply with the rules and regulations.
We live in a democracy, we have a Constitution and we have rules and regulations! Auto drivers are no different and cannot be exempted. They must be fair and just. Its a mode of public transport just like public bus and trains.
I just want to pay for what I should and not on the whims and fancies of an auto driver! They too should be monitored and the fares should be regulated.
