Students of CBIT (Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Gandipet) are facing form of injustice in the terms of unprecedented fee hike by CBIT management. The students of CBIT raise a voice against the decision and the delay by the government to file a counter against the original writ petition written by CBIT. The order of the final judgment by the high Court is written in the document attached to the link below.
The voice of the students of CBIT have been compiled in the form of a letter quoted below.
'Sub: Unprecedented increase in the present fee structure of BTech, CBIT 1st year and 2nd year students
We, students of 1st year BTech of CBIT (Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology) college, Hyderabad are writing this email to bring our concern about sudden and abnormal increase in the fees to your attention.
We joined the college in 2017-2018 through TS-EAMCET convenor quota at a fees of Rs. 1, 13,500/-. During admission we were never informed about the possibility of fees hike in future. Neither are we told about this at the time of counseling/spot admissions. Now, all of a sudden we were intimated that the fee is increased to Rs. 2, 00,000/- by court order. We are notified to pay the arrears for 1st year in next 10 days.
We were forced to sign affidavits during the 1st Mid exam citing that it is mandatory to sign the affidavits without which we will not be given our college Identity Cards and will not be allowed to write the first Mid exam. And now college management is saying that we have to pay the new fees since we signed the affidavits.
It is to bring to your kind attention that many of us are not in a position to pay the increased fee because the huge amount is financially not affordable for many students. Since the order is passed by Honorable court, with all due respect to their judgment, we would like to know how this can be applied to students who have already started their graduation.
It is completely unfair and unjust to demand Rs. 86,500/-per academic year in the middle of an academic year considering there are many merit and poor students in our batch who can't afford to pay the increased amount. If nothing could be done from your side, we have to say that many students will be forced to drop out from the course which will ultimately ruin our bright future. We also have taken declaration from every student ,
1.declaration was signed by the student by their own interest.
2. declaration hasn’t mentioned about the type of petition and to what extent they are expecting the fee.
So we request you to consider our plight and look into this matter and order college management not to impose the revised fees on existing students. Hope you will solve this issue as soon as possible.
Students of Cbit, (1st year)
