My friend Tracy Brown has a complex mental Health condition known as Dissociative Identity Disorder. She has received specialist treatment in York for the last 6 months and now Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS trust have told her her funding will be cut at the beginning of June, which means she cannot complete the psychology work which she is in the final stages of. It seems ridiculous to waste the 6 months work she has put in and the progress she has made for a few months difference. She needs to be able to complete her therapy without inappropriate timing constraints set by commissioners who do not understand the scope of the condition and do not always attend vital meetings.
I am certain Tracy will be able to move on from here once this work is completed. If she does not complete this work I fear that due to becoming critically medically unstable due to an associated eating disorder she may have to be re admitted as a chronically ill patient for a longer period of time and that will be less cost effective than giving her a little more time in the specialist setting she is in now.
Please support Tracy in her plight to recover from complex mental illness and give her the chance she deserves.
