We want schools to help us with our mental health.
Due to lock down we have had to proceed to online learning. This has been a big change for many students and it has taken its toll on some students. Some examples of this include their mental health, their mood, how active they are and how motivated they are etc. What we want to suggest are some options to hopefully stop this from happening to students and to improve their mental health. First of all I would like to propose the idea of screen free days where we have a whole day every two weeks dedicated to offline activities such as some art, challenges, cooking, sport and you can do work on paper or maybe just some fun activities or projects. I know many high schools who are already doing this and their students have a noticed a massive change to their attitude and mood already. My second idea is one where the school decreases the amount of work expected or where the timetable is slightly more relaxed. This can improve the mental state of a student as they feel less stressed and can go outside and not worry about tons and tons of online work. Also we could do a survey where the students can have a say as to what they believe will help them better their learning and improve their mental and physical health. This is an idea that expresses the current thoughts and feelings of lots of students. It would mean a lot to us to have our voice heard and work together to improve our mental and physical health.
