At this moment in time Sri Lanka is facing a Political unrest , there are  political parties bullying teachers not to teach children as they call it a trade union action.

But in actual fact this is Politicians encouraging teachers to join trade unions to manipulate the situation. Sri Lankan school children have been missing education due to COVID since 2020 and many exams such as GCSE O/L have been postponed many times.

In January 2022 teachers wages increased after 23 years, therefore parents are urging teachers to go to work but teachers are not attending schools. This is violating children's right to education under UNHCR (Article 2). Moreover Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission is also turning a  blind eye towards the situation as no one has raised this issue.  Therefore, as global citizens we must protect Primary,Secondary and Tertiary education rights of Sri Lankan children.
