We, the students of the Newfoundland Eastern School District, demand that our mental health needs are met by teachers and school staff. Many teachers aren’t educated on what to do in situations when a student is in mental distress, often unnecessarily escalating the situation. Numerous students and teachers have expressed their needs for mandatory mental health education for all teachers. We respectfully ask for the signatures of students, parents, teachers, and members of the Eastern Newfoundland community to help in our fight for the mental well-being of all students.

We demand that:

    ⁃    Every school teacher (grades K-12) receive professional, up-to-date, scientifically informed, and mandatory mental health education
