I have textured hair. Not everyone possess this bone straight or relaxed hair.

This shouldn't be something that only a handful of people know how to do! #curlyandnaturalhairisgorgeous

It’s necessary to teach this in beauty school! We need more beauticians who understand our hair and don’t burn it to a crisp!!

Textured hair matters. It's beautiful and it should not be treated as "other."

We at Models of Color Matter are so excited to join in the efforts to get textured hair taught here in NY. We have seen first hand how the lack of education of textured hair can affect individuals beauty experiences backstage at shows, on set at shoots, and on a personal level in salons. This is a neccessary step in creating equity in the beauty space. The CROWN Act made it so we can't be discriminated against due to our hair, but this would make it so our crowns can be properly catered to.

Everyone should be able to walk into any salon and trust that a stylist can work with their hair regardless of texture
