The issue of teaching homosexuality in schools is one that many activists have been trying to push for a while now but to no avail. We really need to get this going and show how much this issue means to people all across the country.
It's important to let people know from a young age that if they have issues about their sexuality they should not be made to feel like they are not 'normal' or that they do not have the support of their elders. Homosexuality is completely natural and normal and should be addressed as such in schools, during sex education and as a part of a well-rounded, accepting learning experience. Students should have teachers and support systems to go to if they feel like they have no one else to discuss it with. State schools should have no religious preference and since homosexuality is a natural and normal part of modern society, there is no reason it should not be taught and addressed as normal in our state schools.
If this petition garners enough support I'll see where I can take it to make a real difference.
