TDSB Students: Please prevent the mandatory charges for the IB Program.

The International Baccalaureate program in TDSB is a rigorous program open for all students. On June 19, 2013, the trustees of the Toronto District School Board will vote on whether to charge $1,200 to $1,500 for students interested in participating in the IB programs offered in six Toronto schools.
By making students pay for the IB program, the TDSB will create a financial barrier. Instead of expanding free learning opportunities, like a public education board should be doing, it would discourage many students from this great program. If the TDSB charges us for this education, then it'll be like a private school.
The provincial government is playing with this program and this is absolutely unacceptable. THERE IS MONEY...Ontario has the lowest corporate tax rate in the country and the country has the lowest rate of the entire OECD. To suggest that the public (middle class) has to choose between high quality general education and music classes is a 'false dichotomy' of the first magnitude.
ALL ex-IBs and current IBs need to get this information out there...it is NO ACCIDENT that this is happening the first week of examinations (this is how the government does these kind of things). Parents need to get their trustees on the phone and the TDSB needs to hear from YOU ALL.
DO THIS NOW...TODAY. This is a false choice (music or IB), the money will 'appear' (by the bucketload) if people start speaking up.
