A subcommittee of TCDSB Trustees recently voted to maintain a code of conduct that excludes stated protections for gender expression.  Such protections including gender identity, gender expression, marital status, and family status.  As these inclusions have been mandated by the Provincial government, refusing to update the code of conduct to reflect the TCDSB’s diverse student and parent population is a violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code. Refusal to protect ALL students from discrimination contributes to alienating segments of the student population as well as increasing risk to the health and well-being of vulnerable individuals. There will be a final vote on this issue on December 5th by all 12 TCDSB Trustees so please help get the word out by signing and distributing this petition to as many people as possible. There is no place for systemic discrimination anywhere - but especially in publicly funded education.
