Tax the rich and house the homeless, more

The number of homeless, unemployment and foreclosure numbers are higher than at any time since the Great Depression, yet, a small percentage of the population amasses disproportionate wealth. Ronald Reagan, who managed to become and stay wealthy despite a steeply graduated income tax, set the country on a course that cut taxes on the rich, leaving the middle class to make up the difference. The congressional Joint Committee on Taxation calculates that in 2010, about one million US taxpayers will report incomes more than $ 500,000. If so, they will collect $ 241 billion more than the 80 million taxpayers who earn less than $ 40,000. A CNN Opinion Research Corp. survey found that 61% of the public favor paying for health reforms with a tax surcharge on high incomes. Please, support a steeply graduated income tax that will ease the burden on the middle class; and house the homeless.
