Brandon Lindsey started this petition to Governor Tate Reeves

Covid-19 has put a huge impact on the economy, particularly small businesses in Mississippi. Beginning April 3, 2020 an executive order was put in place by Governor Tate Reeves. It ordered the closure of many businesses to combat the spread of Covid-19. This shutdown has impacted many Mississippians. Especially those self-employed as Tattoo artist.

Recently, changes were made allowing restaurants to re-open, outdoor recreation, and retail. Who wasn’t given the opportunity to re-open? Tattoo Parlors. One of the cleanest environments you will step foot into compared to any other business in Mississippi. Tattoo Parlors have experience in disinfecting, sanitizing, and creating an overall sterile atmosphere unlike other businesses who were able to re-open. Not to mention the ability to limit one client per artist, request usage of a mask for Artist and Client, and appointment only protocol.

Let me walk you through the potential necessary steps of a tattoo during Covid-19. The client and artist would agree upon an appointment time. Once the client arrives, a mask will be given to them at the front as well as the artist. The artist will then set up the station area as he/she normally would. Before, during, and after the tattoo procedure, the artist will be wearing a mask and gloves. Once the procedure is over, the artist will clean the area with highly approved disinfectant. The client will leave, and the shop will be sanitized before the next appointment.

We have spoke with many other tattoo artist in the state of Mississippi, and many are struggling to make ends meet financially and with slim chances of unemployment or loan approval, they sit there uncertain of what the future will hold for their business or their career in means of supplying for their families.

This has to change. Tattoo parlors are very safe and a clean environment to be in while in the re-opening period of the Covid-19 outbreak compared to others. There should be no reason these parlors can’t re-open. In the meanwhile, dirty, unsanitary, and heavily populated businesses are being re-opened. These families are hurting and these businesses are hurting.

I ask you to stand with us and our families. Would you please help re-open Mississippi Tattoo Parlors. Thank you and God Bless!
