Carry Plus-Size Clothing in Stores Again.
Over the past few years I have seen stores such as Old Navy, H&M, and Target remove their plus -size lines or only offer their clothing to be purchased online. This is not cost effective for the consumer as they have to pay shipping on top of the price for the clothing they want to purchase. Offering plus-size clothing in stores is important because currently the CDC estimates that 35.7% of adults are obese; this shows that over one third of Americans are overweight. If you look at a map outlining areas that have higher obesity rates and a map that shows the poverty rates; it is plain to see that lower income groups are most often overweight. With this in mind you can see how it is important for stores like Target to carry plus size clothing. This is because Target offers lower prices on clothing while not sacrificing style; something that is important to adolescents and adults a like. They currently only offer a majority of their plus size clothing online which means you have to pay shipping. For lower income families and individuals paying a shipping price may not be an option!
Please sign this petition to urge Target to put their plus-size line back in stores!
- Target Stores
I am writing to you today to express to you the need for Target's plus size clothing line to be carried in stores again. This is important because currently, the CDC estimates that 35.7% of adults are obese. When you look at a map of the poverty rates and a map of the obesity rates it is plain to see that lower income areas are more prone to be overweight. This is why it is important for stores like Target, who offer less expensive clothes, to carry their plus-size clothing in stores. By offering clothing only online consumers must pay shipping and handling fees. For lower income families and individuals this may not be an option. I urge you to once again offer the plus-size clothing in stores to give everyone access to great style at affordable prices.
