I was sexually assaulted by a former Latter Day Saint Ecclesiastical leader. Sam Young has given many survivors like me the courage to speak up and heard. I am also a social worker and have heard many survivors who have suffered from abuse at the hand of an ordained leader. I’m saddened by the dismissal of survivors from the organization who states they are opposed to sexual abuse and claim to protect children. I felt like Sam Young has been the first ordained bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to validate that my abuse was believed and that I am a valuable and respectible human being. I request other survivors of Latter Day Saint ecclesiastical sexual abuse or abuse  of any other kind to sign this petition. It is not just inappropriate interviews happening. Some leaders are breaking the law and committing unspeakable crimes against those they should protect. Sam is being called to church disaplinary action and I would like to send him with a number of those who have suffered unspeakable shame and spiritual abuse through the horrendous crimes of sexual assault or other abuse at the hand of an ordained leader.
