There are more than 5,000 international students studying at Texas A&M University and we all come from different walks of life. The recent SEVP Temporary exemption published on July 6, 2020 has outlined many decisions that will be detrimental to the education of us international students. This recent publication has outlined that "Non-immigrant students within the United States are not permitted to take a full course of study through online classes. If students find themselves in this situation, they must leave the country". This may be the case for several students who are back home due to travel restrictions, and will not be able to attend their in-person classes. Additionally, the ambiguity of these new modifications poses a threat to the visa status of several intl students if the university decides to move online again due to health concerns. I urge that the Office of the President, International Student Services, as well as Student Affairs work towards supporting the international student community at Texas A&M. I urge TAMU to work with state’s congressional delegation and important federal officials to influence this modification in a way that safeguards our education and stay in the United States.

We Are The Aggies, The Aggies Are We. So let's show up for each other in this crucial time.
