Alex Antonie started this petition to Senator Tammy Baldwin

I am currently in an Introduction to LGBTQ+ studies class, and am also very passionate about sports. After doing some research on the regulations for transgender athletes, especially in high school. I was inspired to start a petition that would be allowing transgender athletes to compete at a varsity level regardless of hormones. These athletes should be able to compete against the gender that they identify as. Each state has it's own policy, and in some states there are no gender restrictions! Wisconsin is somewhere in the middle in comparison to others in allowing transgender athletes to compete. Transgender males are able to compete because "there is no competitive advantage". However transgender females are unable to compete until after a minimum of a full year of hormone treatments. This can be an issue for those who do not have parental support. As a minor you need parental consent to start hormone treatments, and some people are happy with the way they are without hormone therapy.
