Reinstate Concessionary Travel Passes for Autistic People in Tameside
Reinstate Concessionary Travel Passes for Autistic People in Tameside

A change to the interpretation of Section D on the National Concessionary Travel Pass Application Form by an individual or individuals in Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council has meant that Autistic people who have relied on their concessionary travel pass as a lifeline to get out and about are no longer considered eligible for one of these passes despite having severe impairment to cognitive ability and social functioning. This is because Autism is not being considered as a Learning Disability by Tameside Council despite the Tameside and Glossop NHS Trust Autism Team falling under the remit of the Learning Disability Team.
This petition is to encourage Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council to change their interpretation of the National Concessionary Travel Pass eligibility criteria to, once again, include those diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Condition.
