To stop Tameside Council selling off the green space land in the Cockbrook area!
This petition had 831 supporters
Tameside Council are currently selling off green space land which they claim they can no longer maintain.
Assumptions can be made that the land will be purchased by developers in order to build new houses or flats.
Any development will take away green space that is currently used daily by local children as play areas, social zones and safe areas for dog walkers.
The community already have the lowest number of green spaces per km in the Tameside borough. We have only 5 category one green spaces in the area each supporting around 2200 people per green space when the councils own guidelines for development say they're should be at least one green space for every 650 people in 0.4km radius. We cant afford to loose 40% off our current green space in order to increase the number of residents in an already crowded area!
Please share this petition far and wide, do it for the people, do it for the environment but most of all do it for the children.
