Tameside Council propose to scrap the free parking spaces in Aston-under-Lyne town centre!
This petition had 360 supporters
As you may be aware Tameside Council are once again trying to impose parking charges on the free one hour parking bays in and around the Stamford street/Old street area, there are approximately 166 free parking bays. This was proposed and rejected by the council themselves on may 25th 2016 so why 11 months down the line is it happening again??? The people of Tameside deserve better. The charges the council are trying to impose will be as follows,
1/2 hour - £1
1 hour - £2
Over an hour -£5
Spaces are only payable via an app on a smartphone. This will result in Ashton town center not having a single free parking space, this is unfair on traders, the community groups and the general public. The traders around the areas affected really do appreciate the trade that comes from having this free parking option even if it appears Tameside council do not see it as a benefit to the public and the traders.
There is a petition in most shops around the area so feel free to call in, sign the petition and show you're support to Ashton town centre. Alternatively please sign this online petition, Thank you
