The Classified (non teaching staff) employees in the Tamalpais Union High School District have suffered through reduction in days, in hours, and layoffs for the past several years. We have been denied salary increases for the past four years while Management and Teachers have continued to receive annual growths in their salaries. Now we are offered a very small percentage of what has been given to all employees in the district and only if we give up yet another concession from our retirement health benefits. We went through three mediation sessions and have again experienced that we no longer are in an atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration.
We are members of this community. Many of us own homes in this district and contribute to all of the property taxes, including recently passed bonds and parcel tax bill. We believe in this district and our children attend the feeder schools and high school in it. Some of us have two jobs so we can raise our children in this community and attend our schools. Some of us attend college at night so we can continue our education while raising a family and working in this district. Some of us have Bachelor Degrees, Teaching Credentials, and Doctorates. We have worked in our positions and have been part of the Tamalpais Union High School community for 10-15-20 years. We are loyal, committed and give excellent service to our students and their families. We know our students, their families and the history of this district. The administrators who come and go in this district, (approx. fifty new administrators in the past 10 years) depend on our experience, knowledge and elevated standards this community expects and deserves for their children's learning experience. Isn't our student's welfare worth the fuss? Please support the Classified employees in the Tamalpais Union High School District and we promise to continue to show up and put our hearts and souls in supporting our students.
