Recently, the issue of environmentalism has been cast aside as menial and far off in the distance, a plethora of groups turn it away as if it was degenerate, despite the fact that clean energy costs less and is exponentially safer. The majority of the public only knows what they have been told by the stream of media they subscribe to, and as evident recently, that ends in disaster when paired with echo chambers and dogma as it always is, one cannot make a difference if they only know what has been force fed to them, whether it is scientifically accurate or not. Big oil has been pushing misinformation into society ever since the 1980s about climate change, it is our responsibility to right their wrongs and get out the truth. They cast aside the issue as if it is a plaything, how we must deregulate the economy and how noise pollution really isn’t that bad as it negatively impacts not only the human circadian rhythm, but also that of animals, we have understated it for far too long.

 • However, to ensure efficiency and to draw support, we must not overwhelm them and shove them into feeling bad, shame is not a tactic that is effective in these situations, instead, gentle education and reminders are a positive medicine to them. Once it is cemented in the unconscious and the potentially disastrous consequences, it will bother them until they make a change, whether that be to buy energy efficient  tools, or recycling

However, the plastic that plagues the oceans is not going to go away on its own, it is not merely just the people who must act, but the politicians who should be required to speak against the myriad of industrial waste produced. Around 100 million deaths have been attributed to poor air quality alone, and the longer we stall and ignore proven safe alternatives because big oil happens to lobby in our government, the more people die and get terminally ill from lung disease, strokes, and heart disease. These may be shocking statistics, but they do wonders to actions relating to the environment.

• The inaction of society is harrowing, it is as if we completely forgot the issues that lay ahead of us as we seek for greater wokeness or to avoid said wokeness, science does not have a social leaning, and it should have never became something to optionally believe in in the first place. To solve our issues, we must first treat them as humans and not demonize them for what they are now, people can change, and we must give them a chance to do so, by handing them the facts and packaging it in a way that their biases would appreciate.

• For example, saying that action against climate change will improve the mental and physical health  of their families, boost the economy, and reduce potential climate migrants.

Our biosphere is suffering, for ages we have exploited the land that we live on, to mass produce food which merely drains and takes away, creating pandemics such as the 2009 flu pandemic, and our encroachment on the environment as seen with AIDS, Ebola, and now COVID-19. Biodiversity is needed for a healthy life, our mental health suffers because we do not live in nature as we once did.

• We must plant trees in our cities, run ad campaigns for sustainable energy and information on the issues, if we fund anti vape ads, we must fund this too. In an age of nihilistic indifference, education is key, and should be more widespread. With education and rewards for cleaning up, and reducing energy costs, we can make a positive difference together. It doesn’t take much money to lease out pamphlets, to decorate cities with posters, to publish videos on YouTube to inform. Education is key to understanding, and with understanding, comes positive change.
