Too often does politics come into play when there is adverse weather.  Sheriffs would rather worry about mounting pressure from businesses and future electability than to worry about the true importance—the safety of the constituents.  The power to declare level 1, 2, and 3 snow emergencies needs to be taken out of the hands of those that are in an elected capacity.

By refusing and being reluctant to declare level 3 snow emergencies when needed, employees within the county are forced to decide between their safety and being able to pay their bills.
