This year, Groves Christian College decided to make our days 5 minutes longer, and take away 20 minutes of our second break. This is a very large issue and reasons below will tell you why,

The shortening of our 2nd lunch break and lengthening of our days has affected many students. The school took 20 minutes off of 2nd break and it is important that we have the full our because some students may use this time to study, catch up on work, while also being able to participate in education and fun clubs (explicitly the stem club that takes place on Wednesdays during 2nd break). Students also use this time to unwind and relax their brains to prepare for the next lesson. It is psychologically proven that relaxing in between classes stimulates brain activity to help improve grades. 

The five minutes added at the end of our days, would not be as bad if they did not shorten our breaks. Now, we only have 70 minutes of break for the entirety of our 7 hour long days. This is not good for the students' brains, as too much focusing and brain activity can cause stress and harm to the students.
