I pledge NOT TO SHOP at any stores or malls on Thanksgiving Day.
Some retailers and malls have decided that Thanksgiving is not an important national holiday to acknowledge. This makes sense, since they have never been able to commercialize it for their own profit-driven purposes, they now want to hijack it for the Christmas holiday season. They would like us not to notice. In fact, they would like us to focus on their sales and enticements so that we don't see what we are giving up. A day to appreciate what we already have.
Sadly, not only do these retailers and malls not care that they are dismantling this national holiday, but they are doing it at the expense of their own workers' lives—forcing many of them to forgo their own get togethers to serve us: the consuming public.
By signing this petition, and agreeing not to shop on Thanksgiving Day you send a powerful message about the heartless—and even callous—practice by those retailers and malls who don't care about families or their own workers. You stand up for the practice of gratitude - even for just ONE day. Plus, by making your future holiday purchases with those considerate retailers who do care enough to NOT open on this national holiday, you let them know that you support their courage.
Your name matters! Please join us in saying NO to Thanksgiving Day shopping.
