Two Councilors who supported this action called it the "least worst" alternative. One supporter called it a "bad choice." For a decision of this magnitude, those are bizarre standards for acceptance. There needed to be a full environmental, sports, recreation, traffic, and financial mitigation plan in advance. The implications needed to be raised and debated in the general community. Most of Watertown is in the dark on this matter.

Since this many of the people who will be impacted by the taking of Moxley Field do not have access to computers, and were not able to participate in Zoom meeting process, we have circulated a petition for hardcopy signatures in addition to online petition.

I am standing up for PFC Richard Moxley. I am standing up to preserve an irreplaceable recreation area that was dedicated in his memory.

How cruel and ironic -plans unveiled Memorial Day weekend -to destroy a memorial to PFC Richard Moxley and destroy a field that has been in use as a recreation area for nearly a century.

Moxley Field is not a commodity to be repurposed.

PFC Richard Moxley left college and joined the Marines. He answered the call to serve. Less than a year later, he died in Viet Nam.

Moxley Field should not be paved over to create a parking lot. It is a sacred space that should always be preserved.

I'm signing because Moxley field has been a great monumental part of Watertown for many, many years. It's one of the few places where children can still enjoy a large green space for sports, hobbies, activities, get togethers. Not only are we eliminating an area for the community but we are causing more traffic and disturbances, while also diminishing our town reputation of being historical. As a 2013 graduate from Watertown High School, I would be extremely disappointed in the town, if this petition goes unnoticed. Turning Moxley field into a parking lot is an absurd proposal and quite disrespectful to the community that surrounds the area.

Most of all, I feel sorry for the children and families who will never be able to enjoy Moxley field the way years before have endured... shameful.
