"Please support our struggle to keep our pets with us in our homes, who have been with us for years already by signing this petition. It will be sent to Tai Ceredigion housing association, demanding they reconsider and drop their legal proceedings. We live in a block of flats in Penparcau, Aberystwyth, run by the local housing association,Tai Ceredigion. Many of us have been living here for years, with our families and pets. The housing association has known this - and although for some of us the contract says no pets - they have allowed us in practice to continue having them and enjoy our home and family life.

Suddenly, a month ago, without warning or discussion, we received a written ultimatum from the Tai Ceredigion housing association to rehome our dogs and cats within 3 weeks or face eviction. This is an unbearable decision for us and we have been beside ourselves with worry these past weeks. The deadline has past and now Tai Ceredigion has started legal proceedings against us. Some of our children have been born here and it is the only home they know. It is certainly our home and our community. We see our dogs and cats as our family members. Others of us live alone, and our dogs, cats keep us happy, healthy and we see them as best friends. We know that some of our fellow tenants' mental health will suffer severely if they lose their pet who is an emotional support for them. Why should we not enjoy rights to a fulfilling home life, just as owner-occupiers do? Why should we be at the whim of our housing association landlords who allow us a practice for years and then suddenly take it away? Support us in our struggle by signing this petition and sharing widely. We are sure that if enough people support us then Tai Ceredigion will reconsider and drop legal proceedings. We can then continue to enjoy our home life and keep our beloved pets."
