Tackling Soil Pollution

The Issue

As you may know, by the school property, Khalsa school Secondary, there are some different types of car mechanic shops. We have seen that oil leaks are often a problem in these types of shops. These oil leaks are polluting the soil and the grounds.

Soil pollution can be caused by specific reasons such as industrial waste, mining, farming, and soil contamination. Though these causes have a significant impact on soil the most common situation is oil leaks.

Some of the known effects of soil pollution can be found in our daily lives. These effects include damage to health, poorer harvests, climate change etc.

These oil leaks are something we should consider because the dangers of this pollution can be affected to our school and the local community. The oil leaks can harm drinking water, ruin our natural resources like trees and plants, and it can disrupt the community in a lot of ways.

The local car mechanic shop is where all this soil pollution is occurring, and we would inform them that we would help clean your oil leaks. We will mention the shops as our business partner and put in a good name, and clean your lands. In return the shops will give us permission because it will set a good output for the shops, school, students, and the community.

This school provides their students with a job during the summer break. The students get paid to do work by the school, so every day, they take out one or two hours of their day to go out and help the local grounds.
We can also have students do this job for extra credit in blocks or for volunteer hours for their future.

One of the ways that oil leaks can be cleaned is saw dust. Our school has a woodworking class and, in that class, students create projects with wood. Instead of that saw dust going to waste, we can use that material to clean up the oil leaks. It benefits the school's woodworking class and space.
After this whole project, we will look at the progress that is happening. We will do weekly checkups and see if the oil leaks have gotten better. Soon, we will pick up the sawdust to make your grounds better like before.
