Tackle the crisis of NHS access in MK & North Bucks by reopening Willen Village Surgery

Imagine having to wait six weeks for see your GP or having to go to hospital just to be seen by a doctor. Thousands of people across Milton Keynes are struggling to get GP appointments and see a doctor.

More than a year after Willen Village Surgery was suddenly closed with just one day’s notice, NHS England are still refusing to reopen it. It’s a crisis for local families but it doesn’t have to be this way. There is a plan to reopen the surgery but NHS England will not allow it.

Four thousand patients are being forced to attend other surgeries in Milton Keynes and North Bucks (like Kingfisher Surgery in Newport Pagnell, Broughton Gate Health Centre, Oakridge Park Medical Centre and Purbeck Health Centre). Some are having to wait six weeks for appointments. Many are being forced in desperation to go into A&E, further extending waiting times.

Everyone is having to wait longer, either for appointments or in waiting rooms, because this vital service has not been replaced.

Local people tell me that their top priority for the NHS is more doctors and nurses. We must start by reopening this surgery.

Newport Pagnell Medical Centre have offered to reopen Willen Village Surgery but NHS England will not support the plan. Our local MP, and even the Government Health Minister, have not been able to get NHS England to act. We need to force NHS England to listen to local people about the pressures on GP surgeries and the hospital that this has caused.
