Opposition to 35m Telstra Tower - Eastern Connection Rd, Danbulla, QLD, 4872

A development application has been submitted by Telstra to the Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) for the installation of a Telecommunications Tower (Mobile Phone Tower) 34.3m high to be located on Eastern Connection Rd – Lot 1 on RP717720.

The proposed development does not meet the requirements of the rural zone code for accepted and assessable developments. Particularly, development height and the 10m setback from property boundaries. If this application is approved by TRC, the tower will become a dominant feature in our local area, clearly visible at many points along Powley Rd, Eastern Connection Rd and Adams Rd.

We would like to make it clear that we are not opposed to the installation of a mobile tower in our area and would, in fact, welcome the addition to improve the poor mobile phone coverage. In the development application, Telstra has identified two other locations a short distance away. While some trees would need to be cleared to construct the tower and associated infrastructure, these sites would have far less impact on the visual amenity of our area, while still achieving the desired coverage.

This development would ruin our rural atmosphere and we urge you to support us in opposing this development by signing this petition and/or submitting a submission to council.

Submissions close on the 8th of June.

Sign this petition to support us in opposing this development in the proposed location and urge Telstra and the Tablelands Regional Council to select one of the two alternative sites.
