The HOU Life started this petition to Mayor Sylvester Turner and

Most Houstonians have passed under the "Be Someone" sign.  A message put up on a railroad track above I-10 near downtown has slowly become an iconic message of optimism and ambition for so many in the metro area.

Unfortunately, the artwork has been painted over at least half a dozen times over the past several years.  The fact that the sign is on private property (railroad track owned and operated by Union Pacific) makes it difficult to maintain the sign or keep others from painting over it.

I am starting this petition to reach the Union Pacific company as well as local leaders.  Together, we can come up with a solution to maintain the artwork in its original form.

END GAME:  We help make it easy for the artist to create a permanent mural.  The Be Someone sign, on a replicated overpass, that can be placed near "Mount Rush Hour" or in a prominent public space such as Discovery Green.

If we garner at least 50,000 signatures it sends a BIG message to Union Pacific as well as our local leaders that protecting the "Be Someone" sign means a lot to the city and its people.

Houston is a blue-collar city that has always embraced its underdog role.  The "Be Someone" art represents everything that is so wonderful about Houston - The "city with no limits."
