Sydney's only charity animal pound to never place a time limit on any animal awaiting adoption, is facing closure if the NSW State Government cannot find a suitable parcel of land on which to build a new facility, after the site they've called home since 1946 was slated for private redevelopment.
For 70 years, Sydney Dogs & Cats Home has been giving lost, abandoned and mistreated animals a second chance at life.
We’re unique because we don’t put a time limit on finding them a new home. But for 70 years we've leased the privately owned land our shelter occupies, and it's now slated for redevelopment, so now the shelter itself needs a new home.
Please sign our petition to show your support for the work we do, which will help in our conversation with government to find a new site in Sydney for us to continue caring for thousands of animals every year.
More about Sydney Dogs and Cats Home
We are Sydney’s only charity pound. We’ve already raised close to $1 million (on our way to $3m) for a new shelter. You can help us get there by DONATING HERE
A new site will let us expand our existing community programs that link animals with the elderly, those living with disability, injured soldiers, and youth living with mental illness (the results are amazing!). More than 3,000 animals from across Sydney come through our doors each year, and demand for our services is growing because of our approach to animal care.
