Lights for the Cross Street Netball Courts

We are in the final stages of working with the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust (SHFT) to have lights installed at the Cross Street netball courts - and we need your help! Please sign and comment to show your support!

After more than two years of hard work, Mosman Netball Club has reached a critical point in our pursuit of installing lights at the outdoor training facility at the Drill Hall Precinct (Cross Street netball courts).

Mosman Netball Club has over 600 members, with over 40 Junior and NetSetGo teams, plus senior teams and girls learning to play. Currently, the girls must finish training at 5pm due to the early sunset in winter. As a result, teams are only getting 45 mins of training (compared with the recommended 90 minutes), putting immense pressure on the volunteer coaches who often have to leave work early. This is contrary to other local sports that enjoy 90 minutes of training on fully-lit facilities with clubhouses.

The installation of the lights would have a significant impact on our training options by allowing us to train through to 8.30pm. We have already received a fully funded grant by the NSW Minister of Sports & Recreation for the installation of the lights.

Mosman Council have worked extensively with the SHFT researching the impact of traffic, noise, lighting issues and all findings are in favour of installing the lights. The "Proposed Amendment to the Management Plan & DA Submission" has been released following this extensive due diligence, and submissions are being welcomed until 7 November.

We, the undersigned, call on the SHFT to make the proposed amendments to the management plan, in particular with regard to installing lights at the Cross Street netball courts to ensure that girls in Mosman can make the most of the netball courts and continue to play the game they love.
