While having access to a towing company is a necessity in an HOA, the goal is to enforce the guidelines and protect the rights and safety of the citizens within the community.  There has been some on-going concern with our current towing company, Double-D Towing, in which the actions were not in the best interest of the HOA and community. In the most recent incident, a car was towed in front of a homeowner's driveway, while the car was still running, within a 5 minute or less time frame. This citizen was picking up a child and had no intention of staying. The car was not blocking access to the road in any way.

Upon the attempted retrieval of the towed vehicle, Double-D then charged the owner of her car, who had all of her personal belongings in the vehicle, a large fee just to unlock the car they had locked.  Then, a fee double the size was charged to release the vehicle. The conduct followed by the employees at Double-D was deplorable. This was clearly a situation where the goal was to simply hold a citizen's personal assets for ransom to make the most profit versus actually enforcing reasonable and valid policies.

We can brush this, and other reports of incidents with Double-D Towing, off as just another example of the standard abuse people can anticipate from a towing company.  Or we can take action and demand that another towing company is sought out for Sycamore Hill, establishing a precedent that businesses, no matter how commonplace, are unwelcome here if they do not have the best interest of the community at heart.
