Switch Ardrey Kell HS Lunches Back To Normal

Switch Ardrey Kell HS Lunches Back To Normal
Why this petition matters

Long Lunch Lines.
Crowded Cafeterias.
Shorter Lunch Times.
Unhappy Students.
All problems we as students of Ardrey Kell experienced on March 29th when AK decided that students would benefit from a 5th Lunch period. In practicality, that was simply not the case. This week has shown us that the problems of eating organization go much further than an extra lunch period, and many students agree.
Here are a few testimonials from outraged students:
- "The time it would take for a student who is buying lunch to walk to the cafeteria and get their food already takes up almost half the time that is allotted to eat lunch."
- "Since all students are required to go to the cafeteria, the process is inefficient, inconsiderate, and not an effective solution."
- "What's next, five blocks?"
- "If only the AK administration could see, in practicality these 5 lunches have caused more harm than help to the entire student body, and it isn't even a debate."
- "The one thing I protest is that everyone HAS to go to the cafeteria."
- "I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I don't feel comfortable with my mask off around all those people."
- "Since everyone had already had a routine of who and where they were sitting, changing it this far into the school year seems counterproductive and causes unnecessary anxiety for kids."
The scenario that the AK admin has created is that students get less than 25 minutes to walk to the cafeteria, stand in line to get their food, and eat their lunch. We as the student body are petitioning that lunches get switched back to how they were previously structured, giving students more time to eat, and allowing us to eat in classrooms.
Thank you for reading and we hope that we have convinced you to join us in protesting this change.
