Approximately 60,000 citizens of Northern Macedonia living in Switzerland (according to figures at the end of 2019), many of them will not be able to spend the holidays with their families. Last Friday, the Confederation placed, among others, Northern Macedonia on the list of countries at risk. From 14 December, a quarantine must be complied with by travelers upon their return to Switzerland. The Albanian Diaspora in Macedonia describes the decision as "incomprehensible". An online petition "asks the Swiss Confederation to re-evaluate this list before it enters into force".
