Tackle Pavement Parking in Swindon
This petition had 98 supporters
Pavement parking is a significant problem in Swindon for many residents with reduced sight, ride mobility scooters or have children in buggies, who need the full width of the pavement and it would not be safe for them to walk out on to the road.
Although Swindon Council has the ability in law to deal with pavement parking through a traffic regulation order, it doesn't currently use this power.
I successfully amended a Swindon Council motion to look at using its current enforcement powers to tackle the obstruction of pavements from car parking.
By signing this petition we will ensure the Council sticks to their word and enforce action on pavement parking.
If the petition reaches 1,500 signatures we can trigger a debate in the Council Chamber and put further pressure on the Council to address this issue.
