Swimming Enclosures for Mackay

Swimming Enclosures for Mackay
Why this petition matters
We’re fortunate in the Mackay region to have such a beautiful selection of local beaches, hugely popular amongst locals and tourists especially in the warmer months (which let’s face it, is most of the year). For the majority of the year, one thing that comes to mind when taking the kids to the beach or stopping off for a quick dip in the ocean on the weekend is the possibility of having an unwanted encounter many unique critters to Australia Crocs, sharks, jellies and rays. But that’s life in Qld!
Fortunately we have a couple of beaches patrolled, others with nets (which cause more harm than good to some of the previously mentioned critters) and few with enclosures. If you ask most locals (and probably tourists) it’s far too few enclosures, Only two. And those are a good 40 minute drive for most of the Mackay folk. They are well loved and used. A highlight of the region for many families grateful to spend the day in the ocean without the worry. The Seaforth beach and Haliday Bay enclosures.
So this is to encourage the Mackay Regional to focus some of the budget towards installing and maintaining swimming enclosures around the Mackay region.
The more support & signatures they better the chances, let’s make it happen.
