Free bus travel for children and teenagers

Free bus travel for children and teenagers

Bus fares in Swansea are extremely expensive, especially for families with children and teenagers. This has a direct negative effect on the poorest families in our communities, excluding them from days out and other activities which are available to more affluent car owning families. Swansea Council have kindly put on free buses each Friday to Monday for the duration of August and it’s heartening to see the big increase in bus travel as a result. However, in just a short couple of weeks time it will be back to full fares. This petition is an attempt to make free travel for youngsters a permanent fixture in Swansea to help encourage environmentally friendly travel, easier involvement in after school clubs/sports, help keep costs down for everyone whilst making the incredible city of Swansea and the beautiful Gower coast accessible for all.
Thanks so much to Swansea Council for this August’s free travel initiative but it needs to go further ❤️
