This 2020-2021 school year happened amidst a pandemic. Because of this, Springs Valley students did not gain the quality education that they normally would have. Now students in the junior and high schools are being forced to take finals that the majority would not have normally taken during a regular school year.

     This year has been full of struggles for everyone, especially students. For part of the school year, the entire building was virtual. During this virtual learning, things did not go smoothly due to many technical difficulties. Because of these technical difficulties and a lack of normalcy, students did not acquire the same quality education they generally would. When school was in-person, there were still routine quarantines that left many stuck at home unable to gain anything from the lessons being taught through a computer screen. Furthermore, there were times when teachers were quarantined or too sick to teach because they had tested positive for COVID-19. During these times, students were normally left without a teacher for weeks at a time, or the teacher attempted to teach from home, which again, students gained nothing from.

     Because of the tragic and devastating year that everyone experienced, students did not gain the education they normally would have. Because of this, forcing finals onto everyone in the junior and high schools would be setting every single student up for failure. No student is prepared to take finals because the majority of the school year has been taken away from all of them. GPAs would drop, classes would be failed, and many students would be stuck retaking courses, unable to graduate, or unable to meet the standards for their diploma tracks.

     While the above are all concerns regarding the final, one of the biggest concerns is the unfairness that would occur during finals. While some students are going to be at school taking finals as teachers closely and carefully watch over them, many students will be taking finals from home, with little to no successful monitoring by teachers. These variables leave many uncertainties that will influence everyone's final grade.

     Students have already missed out on so much. They have already endured enough suffering. Sign this petition to ensure students won't have to suffer through finals too.
