Postpone McGill's 2020 Spring Convocation

Postpone McGill's 2020 Spring Convocation
Pourquoi cette pétition est importante
Dear McGill Administration,
We are a brilliant class of students who have spent the last three to five years working hard to earn our degrees at McGill. As a class, we deserve to say goodbye to our friends whom we’ve spent these important years with and who have, for many of us, become our second family. We deserve to take pictures on the campus we’ve grown to know and love, surrounded by the ones who supported and looked out for us. One last time, we deserve to walk the halls we’ve beaten with our winter boots, and look back on the memories we’ve made within them. Our degrees, and the celebration that goes alongside earning them, should not be expendable to this crisis.
As a class, we understand the urgency of the situation and know that the upcoming months are critical if we want to curb the spread of COVID-19 across Canada and the rest of the world. We also appreciate the administration’s efforts in ensuring the students’ and the broader community’s safety. However, once this is over, we deserve to walk across the stage, whenever that may be.
We are a class of first-gens, transfer students, future doctors, lawyers, politicians, teachers, scientists, and more; and should celebrate when the time is right. Please sign onto this letter to have McGill postpone the Spring 2020 Convocation instead of completely cancelling it. We are patient and will wait for the time to be right.
