The Montini Detention Basin Project does not work and will ruin pasture land
The Montini Open Space Preserve is a stunning landscape of meadows, hillsides and woods and a valuable habitat for many species of wildlife and plants. The nine-acre pasture at the southern end of the ranch is still used for grazing as it has been for at least a century and must be preserved to ensure that the scenic vista remains much as it was in General Vallejo’s day.
The State and County have designated the area “important local farmland”. The Property provides a central scenic backdrop to the City of Sonoma and its openness and natural condition contribute to the overall rural character and natural setting of the City of Sonoma.
Now Sonoma County wants to ignore their exhaustive two-year scoping study and sacrifice native pastureland for a stormwater detention pond that will not meet their stated objectives. Show your support against this project by signing our petition!
