Uber have announced Partner Protection - essential insurance coverage for it's drivers in Europe. Australian & New Zealand driver partners need protection too!

Australian employees have mandatory workplace insurance.  Why should low-paid, "gig economy" workers & their families miss out?  Especially when it is already being rolled out in Europe?

European Driver Partners are insured against major costs and lost income for "on trip" accidents, as well as "off trip" life events including severe sickness or injury, maternity/paternity leave & also jury duty. The insurance is provided to European driver partners at no additional cost - a genuine step towards recognising drivers as true partners! Read more here: http://t.uber.com/AXAProtection_EN

Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO (@dkhos) tweeted:
"I'm thrilled to partner with @AXA to provide groundbreaking protection for independent workers who use Uber in Europe, giving drivers & couriers the peace of mind they tell us they want while preserving the flexibility they value."

Thomas Buberl, AXA Group CEO (@thomasbuberl) tweeted:
".@Uber & @AXA share the belief that everyone, including independent drivers & couriers, should have the option of benefitting from optimum protection for themselves & their families."
