We are Dorking Safe Streets.

Join us in our effort to construct a safe, controlled pedestrian crossing on Chalkpit Lane (close to the 'Triangle Stores') for our children, for all of us.

We are a community based group made up of parents, educators, local businesses and community leaders. We call for MVDC and SCC to utilise the Community Infrastructure Levy payments from local developments to fund the construction of a Controlled Pedestrian Crossing on Chalkpit Lane, close to Triangle Stores.

Background:
Our coalition of residents, parents, educational, business and community leaders support this plan to construct a safe, controlled pedestrian crossing to make Dorking Streets Safe, and enable people to use their cars less over short commuting distances.

In the last year, a proposed Road Safety Outside Schools scheme was added to the draft Mole Valley “Infrastructure Delivery Plan” and there have been two major nearby residential developments at Vine Court, Chalkpit Lane and The Pilgrim, Station Road - which resulted in Mole Valley District Council receiving Community Infrastructure Levy payments, of £129,200 and £124,236, to spend on local infrastructure.

We aim for this money to be spent on the planned crossing by seeking support from local parents and residents, and endorsement from educational, business, and community leaders.

Our Plan:
1. Ensure the CIL funding is allocated to the construction of a pedestrian controlled crossing to keep our community safe.

2. Advocate for Surrey County Council Highways to conduct a feasibility study on the Green Triangle.

3. Upon a positive outcome from the feasibility study, construct a Controlled Pedestrian Crossing on Chalkpit Lane.
