Waste Energy power partners plan to develop a clinical waste treatment facility on the Trumps Farm site located on Kitsmead Lane, KT16 0EF.  They are due to submit a planning application to Surrey County Council after the end of May 2020. Info can be found here: www.trumpsfarmenergy.co.uk

This new proposal is to develop a site to manage Hospital & Clinical/Medical Waste - treating over 16,000 tonnes of waste that comes out of hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists, nursing homes, pharmaceutical companies and tattoo parlours from Surrey and the ‘surrounding counties’.  Clinical waste will include swabs, dirty bandages, needles and surgical waste.

This new site proposes to heat treat solid clinical waste, reducing it to vapour, gas and steam and creating a residual ash which will need to be transported in skips to a separate recycling site.  Site safety and regulation of business activities is a major concern.

In terms of site traffic, the proposal outlines that it foresees 5 HGVs and up to 20 smaller vehicles accessing the site daily from 7am-6pm (Mon-Fri) and 9am-1pm (Sat).  Whilst it claims there is ‘no predetermined route’, there is every probability that the roads of Longcross, Lyne, Virginia Water and Trumps Green will be used – especially as the waste will be coming from all parts of Surrey and other counties.

This petition is to show local resident opposition to the proposal given the concerns it raises regarding noxious fumes, noise pollution, increased traffic and further damage to local environment and wildlife.
