Justice for Little Children in Doha #JusticeForDohaKids

Inaaya is a 3-year old bright little girl who is learning to love the world as she grows up. Doha is her home. With immigrant parents who work hard to build better lives for their children, she recently completed her term at the play-school she loves. She couldn't wait to go to back to school, the new 'big school' she lovingly refers to as her parents explained to her. But little did she or her parents know she cannot go to school.

In December 2018, after a series of tests and interviews, Inaaya was admitted to the Doha Modern Indian School (DMIS). The school management informed her parents that she had been admitted and they would have to pay the admission fee immediately to secure a seat for her. Her parents complied with all formalities and Inaaya was all ready to go to school from the 16th April, 2019.

On 27th March, 2019, at 4:30 PM, with barely two weeks to go to school, DMIS called to tell her parents that her admission has been revoked "as per Ministry directive". No explanation has been given to the parents, and they have been told to collect their fees back without any alternate arrangements.

Why do I hope you will care and sign this petition?

Because Inaaya is not alone. As a result of DMIS's actions, there are HUNDREDS of children and their families in Doha who are now helpless because their toddlers do not have school admissions right when the school term is starting.

It is almost impossible for all the stranded children to get admissions in other schools at a moment's notice. DMIS cannot play with the lives of little children without plausible explanation and alternate arrangements because of the lapse in their actions.

On behalf of all the families who are now under immense pressure, I would like to request the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (Doha), and Shri P. Kumaran, Esteemed Ambassador, Indian Embassy in Qatar to intervene and grant justice to our children, whose futures are now in question.

Our ask:

  • Immediate request to help with admissions of all children whose admissions have been revoked unfairly.
  • Looking into the actions by Doha Modern Indian School.
  • Setting clear guidelines for schools so that the children and their families are saved from this harassment in the future.

Please sign this petition to help our little ones get justice to secure their futures. No child deserves unfairness because of administrative systems failing them. Let us not sit by and watch. #JusticeForDohaKids

As a mother who is trying everything she can to ensure her little daughter's future is not played with, please sign and share this petition. Every signature is a voice added, and yours might make this petition heard by those who can save our children.

Sincerely,

Vasudha
