Save 60,000 acres of forests

Haryana Assembly has passed PLPA bill which makes 60,000 acres of forests in NCR open to real estate. This deliberate attempt of politicians to fulfil the short term vested interests of a few individuals at the cost of the well-being of more than 50 million people in the long run. Our policymakers do not understand the gravity of the current environmental scenario. Destroying the Aravalis will reverse years of conservation attempts made at preserving the environment. Haryana has decided through a legislative route to set us back from this direction, giving a “death blow” to the environment. If we reach a tipping point, there will be no coming back. While citizens are struggling to breathe clean air and drink clean water, the legislators are clearing the little land that we have left. Not forgetting that Haryana already has the lowest forest covers in the country, only 1,588 sq km of land.

I urge you to sign this petition to block this controversial Punjab Land Preservation (Haryana Amendment) Act (PLPA). The bill has opened thousands of acres of forests which was protected under 1990 Forest act.
