Carolyn R. Smith started this petition to SUPREME COURT

This monument depicts 3 confederate leaders of the  Civil War: President Jefferson Davis, Generals Robert E. Lee & Thomas Stonewall Jackson supported by the United Daughters of the Confederacy & was also a sacred site for the Ku Klux Klan. The Confederates lost the Civil war. It represents a complete and total lie.
The neighborhoods surrounding the monument were all white homeowners at one time but over time have now become predominantly black. This monument of white supremacy is all in their faces every day. It is a constant reminder of what Black people have endured during slavery and continues to be a horrible reminder of what Black People have lived through & are still living through. It is also a symbol of hatred and division.  Most importantly it does not represents all the citizens of the United States and never have. Through the course of time laws have been changed where race (the color of man’s skin) is involved. Finally, this monument does not unite or bring people together. It perpetuates all that is evil in the world and must be taken down. Most of the people who believed in this monument are probably all dead & gone by now. We need to be responsible to let the horrible past die and build toward a new and better, bigger and brighter future as The United States of America.
