As an African American, I've had to explain basic natural behaviors to my attorneys to understand me enough to represent me. Example explaining why it took hours to wash and braid my child's hair and how very important it is to keep a family together. Judges are even harder to relate to. 

In the current selection process Once a vacancy is "certified" by the appropriate body, the House and Senate Committees for Courts of Justice begin taking nominations from General Assembly members.

Names of candidates are submitted by General Assembly members to the House and Senate Committees for Courts of Justice. These Committees determine whether or not each individual is "qualified" for the judgeship he or she seeks. The hearings held by the Courts' Committees are open to the public and the public is given an opportunity to appear before the Committees if someone so desires.

Let us start with selecting People of Color as Judges in Spotsylvania County VA. Especially in Juvenile courts where our children's fate is being decided.
