At 1,500 signatures, this petition is more likely to get picked up by local news!

This petition is an initiative by a group of youth from Mumbai appealing for justice in the case of rape and murder of 8 year old girl Asifa and to make stricter laws against Rapists.

Stricter laws against Rapists: Capital Punishment or Life Imprisonment

We thought India learnt a lesson from the Nirbhaya’s case. But, hearing about Asifa’s case is the most disturbing thing ever. Asifa was 8 years old. Asifa Bano’s body was found in the forests of Rassana on January 17, a week after she went missing. Her body bore torture marks and she had been raped before she was killed. It need not be elaborated that Asifa belonged to the marginalised and downtrodden nomadic tribe.

More than 100,000 women and girls get raped every year in India. And half of the rape cases go unreported. They get raped and even murdered. And, the rapists after doing such a heinous crime walk freely. Justice needs to be served to all the women/girls out there who are still fighting to get justice and to get over the horrendous experience.

It’s now or never. We need to make a change. We need stricter laws against Rapists. Capital punishment or Life imprisonment is what we need. Don’t keep on increasing the years of imprisonment when we ask for justice. Death penalty or Life imprisonment should be the ultimatum.

No woman/girl in India should ever experience this, ever again.
